如何分析包含对比关系的新托福独立作文

在2015年的前10场考试中,包含对比关系的独立写作题目占了6道,而传统的复习资料TPO中这类关系的题目也占据了全部题目的52%(也就是说在34道题目的统计中,对比类的题目有18道),这类包含对比关系的题目可见考查之频繁。那么如何去应对呢?

 

一、找到对比的对象

A:多数考生们很熟悉这类对比,请看2015年4月18日的考题:Some people always follow their dreams even if the dreams are ambitious. Some think we should focus on achieving realistic goals. Which do you agree with? 考生们就知道是在“pushy dreams and safe and practical goals”间进行选择并进行对比论证,因为在近期的考试和TPO中,这类很明显的对比的题目也是常见的,如TPO 23: In today’s work, it is more important to work quickly and risk making mistakes than to do work slowly and make sure that everything is correct.

 

B: 但是有时候考生却没有注意题目中会有对比点,请看2015年4月12日考题:Providing the internet access is as important as other service, such as building roads, so the government should provide it at no cost. 当天参加这场考试的考生回来和老师聊天时就说这道题目很好写,全文只要写free Internet access的好处即可。在这里,朗阁海外考试研究中心的老师要提醒大家的是,这场考试的整个风格和TPO 1的分析方式是一样的,TPO 1: At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support. 这道题目的对比点是:sports and social activities获得的经济支持与classes and libraries的经济支持的对比,也就是说无论考生们以什么态度来写这道题目,不要忽略题目中的这个对比点。以下朗阁海外考试研究中心的老师将为大家呈现今年4月12日考题的分析提纲:

本文对比点是:要提供免费的网络因为和别的服务一样重要。对比的对象是修路对象:政府

所以要理解政府拿钱修路有什么重要性:convenient in people’s daily life // widen mutual communication between different regions in many walks of life.等等。

 

同样的道理分析网络对于所有公民免费的必要性。Agree:

Reason 1: Free internet access is beneficial to people’s daily communication and their work. (especially for the people living in the rural areas, keeping in touch with their family members, friends frequently can become true by means of online chat, video messaging. Also, free internet can help people in work in searching for information, chat with their colleagues, receive students’ assignment submitted by them, while building roads is conducive to people’s mutual communication in diverse areas, likewise, convenient road systems make people work in any places,… therefore, it is deserved to free financial support)

 

Reason 2: Free internet access is beneficial to enriching people’s entertainment. (listening to the music, watching movies, reading interesting news , books, write wechat / blog. Similarly, building roads is convenient for people’s daily outing when they are inclined to tourism, camping or having a picnic…) So it is worth providing free internet.

 

Reason 3: National development can be fast thanks to the free internet accessibility. (a wide range of valuable information resources, such as technologies, diverse cultures, trendy information in the fashion…… allow more netizens who are passionate about creativity to be dedicated to novelty to make contribution to the nations, like in automobiles, processing, …….the same situation happens to road building, which narrows the gap among regions, free internet access is highly advocated.)

 

通过上面的分析来看,如果考生们没有找到对比点,仅仅是一味的谈论free internet access的重要性,而没有写到上面分析内容的红色部分内容的话,是会被扣分数的。

 

二、紧抓绝对词与细节词

A: 请看2015年2月1日的考题:Movies and television have some negative effects than positive effects on the way young people behave. 朗阁海外考试研究中心的老师在平时的教学中就遇到了一位学生是这样分析考题的:disagree

1. Movies and TV programs tend to widen people’s outlook.

2. These media may allow people to be informative

3. ……………………………………………

 

B:分析到这里的时候考生们应该已经看出来了吧,这位考生忽略了考题中的细节词或绝对词:movies and TV programs, young people,和这道题目中的一个定语从句the way young people behave.

 

C: 接下来为考生们展示一个可能的分析思路:

1. Young peopleappear to transform their perspectives towards their learning thanks to movies and TV.

2. Movies and TV programstend to guide themto live in a healthy way.

3. Much ambitious images in themovies and TV programsmay motivatethe youth to achieve their dreams.

 

三、注意争论焦点

A: 每一篇文章都有其争论的焦点,然而考生有时候却不能抓住焦点,主观臆断,这就不利于文章的展开,朗阁海外考试研究中心的老师以2015年1月25日的考题为例:Classmates and partner can communicate with each other in person to finish the project better than sending E-mail. 由于题目里有一个目的状语从句,有的考生就会含糊其辞的去分析考题,然而朗阁海外考试研究中心的老师可以明确的告诉大家,本题谈论的焦点是为了完成某一个课题哪一个交流方式好?本文的题目并不是单一的来谈论face-to-face interaction and sending E-mails的对比。

 

B: 同样的题目也可以在今年3月7日的考题中看到:Some people believe that going to field trips (e.g. going to the museum) is better for children’s education. Others think that it is better for children to study in a classroom at school. Which do you prefer? 这道题目整体读下来:谈论的焦点就是哪个学习方式好?是野外实习还是仅仅呆在学校里学?

 

四、要适当的理解对比,不要绝对化

A: 老师在前面的一个点分析过,要找到题目中的对比点,当考生们看到类似于对比的题目后就要在书写的时候进行对比论证,其实是否需要对比要看题目中的逻辑关系。请看这道题目,TPO 12: It is better to have broad knowledge ofmany academic subjectsthan to specialize in one specific subject. 很显然,只有对于题目中有明显的矛盾双方时,考生进行选择的时候才能进行对比,如这道题目中的:许多学科和单一学科。

 

B: 然而如TPO 11: Some people say that the Internet provides people with a lot of valuable information. Others think access to so much information creates problems. Which view do you agree with? 这道题目没有矛盾双方:the Internet provides people with a lot of valuable information. // so much information creates problems. 也就是说,考生在这道题目的态度选择后采用单一的论证即可写完这篇文章。

 

当在审题含有对比类关系的独立作文的时候,朗阁海外考试研究中心的老师建议考生们要看清题目中是否有对比点和了解争论焦点,尤其要注意题目中的细节词以免偏题。
